Ed,
I ran every Summit 12 hour and in fact won the IT-B class in 2000 in a white BMW 2002. It was a 4 speed. None of the many 2002s that ran at Summit were 5 speeds. That's a CA thing. I also ran and won the Moroso 24 hour that year in IT-B with the same car and was protested at the 23rd hour for running a 5 speed. At the post race inspection, it was proven that we had the stock 4 speed. The protestees kept pointing the to 5 speed shift pattern imprinted on the knob on the car. Unfortunately for them, shift knobs are free. The BMW 320s of the '70s were 5 speeds but the box is 3 inches longer than the 4 speeds due to gear cluster arrangement. The BMW inspectors under the car knew the difference.
BTW were you part of that Toyota team from New England at Moroso back then?
