Seriously, ITB in with ITE and ITR?? Speed diff is pretty rough with ITR, and will be worse??

We run with ITE (C4s, C5s, and C6s) in open practice at Waterford all the time. If I'm driving my 924 at speed - it's pretty interesting. I can't see things being better in true race conditions at a fast track...

Shouldn't they be in Group 3????

Thanks! I'd take personal responsibility but that would be wrong.

These are the sponsors and pro/ amature racing series's that help keep that entry fee low. ( And yes I'm a slacker for not mentioning them before!)

Performance Alignment ( Thanks S2000 driver Bill Braucksick)
Continental Motorsports ( with a shop at the track in the middle paddock at Mid Ohio)
Jeff Loewe Photo ( You will find Jeff in Garage #1 at Mid Ohio for the race weekend)
Race Keeper ( Thanks ITA driver # 34 Bill Stevens!)

Now don't panic Vaughn! As you know we tend to shift things around if it looks like things are going to be out of whack. So hang on and lets see what happens.

Too bad you're running SM with STL; you're missing out on a great opportunity for double-dippers (at ITA's great expense of potential SM conflicts). but I can't really offer any constructive options.

FF2000 and FF1600 separate groups? Is this some kinda festival for them, too? Are they that close in speeds -- or large in numbers -- that there would be conflict?

Wish I could join you guys this year, it has been far too long since the last one. I'll be back soon enough. - GA

On edit: actually, here's my suggestion. Swap groups 3 and 4 so that ITA and SM are back-to-back, discouraging SM competitors from double-dipping in ITA (after all, it's a festival for ITA, not SM, right?) Then move STL to the small-bore Prod and GTL group, giving SM'ers some place to play if they choose to double-dip.

3) SRF, EP, FP, HP, GTL, STL
4) ITA, IT7, ITC
5) SM, STU

Hi Greg,

Good to hear from you, and yes its been way to long. The F2000 and F1600 are pro groups and are giving us a donation to be there. Thus the lower entry fee for the club guys. And yes its made things a bit of a squeeze with pressure from my end (region) to run a club based formula group also. But as I mentioned to Vaughn we will watch and adjust groups if it becomes necessary to do so. We did review entries from the past few years before deciding on how to group things. With the economy stills struggling I don't think we will see any big surprises, drivers are still sticking to home and choosing fewer races to attend.

Good to hear, thanks. I know there's no way Merritt will even be likely to sign up if that's the grouping. It's enough managing ITR/ITS traffic... but if the ITB record holder wouldn't even go out there and mess with that situation, I don't think there'll be much interest from the slow guys either. ;)

Well when you figure we had 0 ITR entries in 2011 and the ITE field was mostly comprised of what would be considered vintage cars. Heck the top three ITB cars ( Tristan, Scott and Kirk) were faster by 2 seconds than three out of the five ITE entries last year. :o

Merritt might have to complain about being blocked while she's lapping them. :p

Again in all seriousness. We will see who and what enters, and adjust accordingly.

is there any kind of "test day" on Friday. having only been to the track once before, it may be a good idea.........then again???

Tim,

Yes we have the PDX on Friday for $210 or if you feel comfortable instructing you could sign up to help a newbie and drive your car in the advanced/instructor group for $50. The other option is the Mid Ohio evening test & tune. Its $150 if paid in advance or $195 at the track. Read below on how to contact our Chief instructor......

Hi everyone,

Thought I'd put a plug in for our latest sponsor Holliday Canopies. This will be Wes Holliday's 30th year of racing. You can check out his new logo on this years I.T SPEC*tacular t-shirt.

So far we have 15 I.T. entries out of a total of 34 participants. Another 18 folks are driving in the Friday PDX. We need instructors for a growing Novice class again this year so if you feel like giving back some of your time we would appreciate it. Its an all day commitment but in return you can run your car in the advanced/instructor group for $50. Contact Bill Niemeyer Jr. at [email protected] if interested.

Best Regards,

Todd

Happy 4th everyone,

ITC: 7

Not yet registered: Carl, Ryan, two newbie-Toms and one newbie-Bob, that makes 12+ expected. Need to get Ruck to rent his car out.

Todd,

My car needs an annual tech prior to running this event. Will someone be available Friday afternoon/evening for an annual inspection?

Dan
