This a mid pack view of the SSM Race at the Glen 9-18-11 including the wreck at the "BUS STOP".I also want to mention I appreciated all the well wishes..we were flooded by the Susquehanna River. Our home had 6 feet of water on the first floor as did the home next door which we own...to top it all off both our office building had 3 feet of water on the first floorhttp://vimeo.com/29332275/settings...I went to the Glen to get away from the MUD I have been shoveling since last saturday..we're all fine, nobody got hurt, nobody got sick and nobody died. . My motor went on the second to the last lap...hopefully it's only the timing belt....ENJOY

That was me in the red #56 Miata, I must say for me it was a great race.
First time on the short course, I qualified 22 and finished 10th and lower my lap times by 2.6 seconds.
I saw you sitting outside turn 1 at the end, sorry for your troubles but I knew than I didn't have to worry anymore about you comming back at me!:o
I drove thru Johnston City on the way out, I must say quite an earie feeling!

view from someone who got tangled up

This is the view from right where the accident happened. I got tangled up in it.

Went to the back of the pack, then made about 20 passes through the field. That was busy work. As always, Mike kept me honest through the corners while I was trying to pass him.

Nice start Vicktor. :)

The thing I kept noticing in Mike's video is that he apparently needs to get Viagra to sponsor his rear-view mirror...

Thanks. I don't know what happened to Chris Windsor but the green came out and Ed Z hit the gas, then the brake. Luckily I had room up the left.

In hind sight, I would have loved to botch the start.

Finally uploaded my video. Sat was fun and it was great to race with Marty in his ITB BMW 2002. That was some nice, clean racing. Also helped out a less seasoned but very fast VW driver and see him progress throughout the weekend.

For Sat's race, going into the bus stop I saw lots of tire smoke and a Miata two wheels off in the grass (I think, certainly not in control from what I could tell). I didn't want to become his brakes. I was pretty annoyed by the situation especially as it allowed the 2nd place ITB car to pass me. Looking back at it, not sure I'd do it differently. Was I smart or a wimp? It's neat to see Marty's car dance especially during the beginning of the race.

Absolutely the right move to make. Even if you gave up a half-dozen spots in class, you still accomplished a major goal - to be able to drive the car back on the trailer. Better to live to fight another day or lap.

Too many (particularly in my own class) still drive as if their lives depended upon it, and as if F1/NASCAR/Chumpcar scouts were crowding the stands looking for The Next Greatest Thing. They aren't, we're racing for $3 trophies, and too many forget that.
