Value of heat cycling race tires...
We all know that it's important to heat-cycle our race tires to help promote compound longevity and performance consistency. But what usually happens when you run brand-new, heat-cycled tires on a very abrasive track over a typical race weekend to the point of minimal tread? Do the tires still retain their chemical stick?
I know if you "shock" tires by racing them without the benefit of a prior heat-cycle they will lose their chemical vitality practically overnight...
BTW, I run the Hoosier R6. (Used to run Toyos, which seemed to take a hellacious amount of abuse really well no matter what I did with them...)
