Rebuilding a Mazda 1.8L BP engine from a 91-95 Escort GT or Protege and am having trouble finding a new Head bolt set. Does ARP make a set or is there another manufacturer. I assume we should not reuse the original set.

i've reused OEM stuff a bunch of times and haven't had any problems, and don't know of anyone else who has either.
i wouldn't spend the money on ARP head bolts, but i probably would on the rods. if i was rebuilding a motor and wanted new, i would call mazda as suggested.

It all depends on how and why the motor when ka-plewy...get new stuff...

Just tell them the motor you have. Or have someone order them for you.
Good call, I guess I am not devious enough, Thanks

Where are you at I can get ARP head bolts for $115 (stocked locally near Detroit, MI). Would be happy to ship them out to you if needed.
These are for PN 218-4701 (1.8L Miata), I can dig & see if there is a difference.

Flyin' Miata sells ARP bolts/studs.

Are the bolts "single use" stretch bolts like the VW head bolts? Those are a PITA, and the ARP stud kit is a MUCH better way to go, at least for the VW.

contact me at 570 262 1013 and i'll get the hardware.
the head bolts can be reused. they are not torque to yeild type which is a one shot deal. there is no harm is using brand new ones, just added expense.
the rod bolts and nuts NEED to be replaced every time the bottom end is redone.
also, what other items are you replacing???? oil pump, oil cooler (not sure if the front drive platforms had the same cooler thats on the miata), etc.
The bottom end has already been rebuilt by a shop. I am replacing the oil pump but I did not think about the oil cooler????? I received an oil pump with the rebuilt bottom end but it looks different than the original so I am having the shop take a look. The shop that is rebuilding the head has indicated they will get the new head bolts. I am changing them due to what seems like a majority of comments say should be done. Better safe than sorry. Never blown an engine before so this is a learning experience as far as what to replace. All suggestions will be helpful.
