What tools do you use to remove sound deadening?

A heat gun and a putty knife. Then some solvent to get the residual.

Air chisel with rounded corners so you don't cut the floor pan like I did. Then drape the residual with blue shop towels. Soak them with mineral spirits and go drink a couple of beers while it does its thing. Wipe up the remainder and wash it all off with purple clean. Clean again with paint prep and shoot it.

bingo. i tried a lot of options, including dry ice, but the heat gun/plastic putty knife was the combo that worked best by far. no chance of damage (hammer, chisel, metal putty knife, etc.) either.

I used one of those small propane torches and a putty knife on my rabbit, probably the same as a heat gun just a little faster in thick spots
