    Default Nitto NT01's

    Anyone using Nitto NT01's on their track car..? I've read some positive things about these tires but I'd prefer a present on (or off) track experience to assist in my evaluation over Hoosiers. Thanks, GP

    Almost half the price and we are getting a solid 10 races out of ours here in Louisiana.
    I would put them equal to the RA1, slightly harder than a V710, but last for my set up about the same length of time.
    We are running the 225 15" tire at $135 each for stickers.
    My set up 1993 240sx ITS prep car 2685 # . First time out at Memphis Motorsports Park I got the car down to 1.21 on old V710s. Hope this helps, hell for the price you can try them out and still not be out much.

    Thanks, that's solid advice. Is there an optimal operating PSI to adjust to as you exist the track and do your tire tests for PSI and temp...? I plan on using 235/40/17's.

    Our local guys are running that size on the BMW's. I will check with them and get back to you.
    My 15" ones are great at 38 psi and between 155 and 190 degrees.

    Got the note back from Clint Melancon in the #55 Spec E36 car we build localy.

    This is all I know...depending on track temps...we try to achieve 39-40 max on all four, so we would start off around 32-33 cold on all four. On a cold day, we went 35 cold. "

    Are you getting 10 weekends or 10 heat cycles out of the nitto's? We will be using a set starting with the upcoming daytona school. Do you have comparative lap times between the nittos and kuhmos? Have you tried these in the rain at any point? Thank you for the information re: pressures etc.. Gives us someplace to start as we are running same size as you and a similar car (datsun 240z) at a bit less weight.

    I am sorry it was not very clear. I suck at communicating things like this.
    For our typical event here in LA, we have two drivers for one day of events. Schedule is as follows
    20 min practice for both drivers - 40 min total
    20 min qualifying for both drivers- 80 min total
    20 min heat race for both drivers - 120 min total
    20 min feature race for one driver 140 min total

    We run that set up for 4-5 weekends before they are dead, and show cords. We rotate them mid day and will flip them after 2-3 event weekends.
    Have not run them in the rain, but I would run them full tread with no worries.

    They are about half a second slower than a New to New compairison with the V710s.
    I have never had Hoosiers treat me right, the R6s get greasy and never come back in a sprint race.
    I have tried some Biasplys and they are the same way. I am not bashing on the tires, just have not devoted time to figuring out the love they need.
    Nittos, and the V710s are plug and play on my car.

    I appreciate you taking the time to answer all the questions. This is all good information for me as well as others. Did you have them shaved or did you run the full 6/32 tread to get 4-5 race weekends...?
