Well, I haven't owned a lot of different brands, so I'll just say this:

Check with TPD. They are made from Fiberglass Reinforced Plywood, they are great quality and great resale. I just sold one I bought used in 2003 for $10,000 and just sold it last month for $8,400!
I'm now on my fifth TPD (30' tag)

The biggest problem is they are based in California, maybe they have an East Coast dealer.

Since you have 2 cars, you should really buy Nick's. It has EVERYTHING and is about 1/2 what it would cost new...

Jeff.
As luck would have it my registration just came in the mail and it says the unladen weight is 5350 lbs but that sounds a little high to me. I think my 20' was about 3000 lbs.
As far as that 30' that is for sale on the forums, I saw the add just after I took delivery of my TPD. I'm a dyed in the whool TPD guy (this is my fifth) but if I'd known about that especially at that price I would have seriously concidered jumping ship.

I'd buy the best deal on a used one I could find. There are way too many nice used trailers out there to buy a new one. Many are already nicely outfitted saving you lots of time having to add stuff in yourself. To me, the shell construction for just about all the manufacturers is similar (unless you get an aluminum frame, which bumps up the cost). You can argue about construction quality, but I read bad things from somebody on just about all the big manufacturers when I was doing research. The big differences show up in things like the axles and springs. Make sure those are good quality.what trailer would you buy? what trailer to stay away from? 2o foot tag along. thanks rick

FWIW, I am actively searching for a good used trailer. I have yet to find one that meets the requirments of being in reasonable condition (tires and overall) and a good value. The ones I have found used are within a $1000.00 of a new one and have no warranty.
I am thinking about ordering one from these guys http://www.trailershowroom.com/8_5X20f.htm
and driving down to pick it up. Anybody know anything about these trailers? Haulmark, Cargo Source and several other trailer manufacturers are in the area.

They seem to. I've been looking at a few used ones, and finally just settled on a 24' triple-axle TPD Titan (smooth walls, no wall studs) from 2003 that looks like brand new. Under 4K lbs empty, BTW.Thanks John. I reall like the look and apparent quality of those trailers. Do they hold up?

Called those guys but shipping is like $1.03 a mile. No East Coast dealer. Would like to have them as an option, but the shipping really hurts.Check with TPD. I have a 2000 Shadowmaster 28 ft that has a converted front 8 ft sleeping lounge quarters with insulation wiring and a/c, new tires and new springs on 7000 lb axels for sale the trailer needs a bit of finish work in the garage area as i took part of the interior plywood out to insulate it but i still have everything to put back. The trailer comes with a new Curt hitch and a dual cam sway system and has an electric front jack Asking price is $6000 but that is negitiable. anybody interested call Mike at 864 221-2783
