Transponder install

Anyone have some insight on where a good place to install my transponder is? Im also wondering......is this something that you might want to have wired to an on/off switch? Give me some of your own experiences. Its a hard wired version.

Doug--Hardwire it.

Best location? Front fender apron area ( ahead of the front strut).
Right behind the rad support sheet metal.

That area is fairly well protected.

Go with the driver side as it is a closer wire run to 12v power.
 
Joeg is on the money... only thing I would add is to wire it to a keyed ignition source so that it's only on when the key is on. (Or whatever you use for your ignition.) That way, it's one less thing you could forget on the grid. JMHO.

Actually, mine is wired to the remote starter solenoid feed termina near the battery and is on all the time the kill switch is on.

Those things do not draw much power and I wanted to make it as "mindless" as possible too.
 
I haven't installed mine yet, but was thinking. Don't forget to fuse it if it doesn't have a fuse in it. Even if you connect it to the soleniod you want circuit protection. You would hate to have a thermal event.

You could probably get away with a 7.5amp, but I use a 10 amp fuse.

Those units draw very little current.
