    Default Miata Trunk Hinge Repair

My Miata was lightly hit from behind, but it bent the trunk hinges. I've got a new hinge assembly (brackets, hinges, torsion bars) and tried to replace it earlier today. There are two nuts on each end of the hinge assembly that are easy to get at and easy to remove. But the assembly wouldn't come out. So I look at the replacement hinge and notice a couple of nuts welded in way in the back. It seems there are bolts coming though those nuts from the back (the front of the car). Can anyone give me some advice on getting at them to swap the assembly? Or should I just break down the assembly and try to replace only the two hinges and keep the current brackets and torsion bars?

Sorry I can't help, but you might also try the Spec Miata forum if you haven't yet.

Thanks for the reminder, Marty. I'd forgotten about the Spec Miata boards.

Easy to do....but watch what you say! NEVER combine "censorship" and "JD" in the same sentence! Or you'll get edited, censored and deleted, then barred!

Oh, duh, after two and a half hours I figured it out. Just ignore me. :-)
