    Default Honda 1200 engine

Does anyone know where I can find a Honda 1200 engine for a 1979 Civic? Thanks

Ohmylord, ye ole 1200 8v engine! People still racing em? My first race car was a '75 Civic. Our old Honda heaven junk yard probably has several of them buried in there. Those engines have been in there for several years so I don't know of their conditions.

I have a ITC 1200 (shown here driven by a previous owner, before I redid it). Its a fun little car to get my feet wet driving wise. I dont have allot of power to get in trouble with and its light weight makes it easier to correct if I do make a mistake.

Do you know anyone who has a 1200 engine for sale? I want to get this car built for next season. Thanks.

Where are you that finding a 1200 engine is so impossible? Hit the wreckers, most wreckers around here will sell me a whole 70's 1200 for under a $100. Most just smash the cars anyway and are glad to get somthing out of them. The people who I have run into that say they can't find a 1200 usually have not looked very hard as there was millions of them made from 73-79.

Here is a resource in the Northeast.
Hemminger Auto & Truck. They are located near Jennerstown, PA (Speedway). The Toll-free # is 1-877-304-0255. Ask for Goody (really is his moniker) and he will work with you. Most salvage/wrecking yards near me belong to the locator network and will ship things out as well. This one supplies parts to my dealer. There are other yards that actually specialize in really old cars as well-you just have to look hard.
