    Guys,

I just now removed the head liner from my car and wondering if there is an effective way to remove the adhesive that held the fabric batting and foam to the roof. The remnants look pretty bad.

    Thanks

Maybe WD-40, Goo gone, lots of elbow grease.

For less time and aggravation, I would just chemically (or mechanically) strip the underside and repaint it.

This is not a "Silly Question"; none are when it comes to VW adhesives, shutz, seam sealers, etc. Real tough stuff!

The head liner goo is MUCH easier to remove than the carpet goo.

I use a putty knife and then sand paper to get rid of the head liner left-overs.

Still finding sections of the rubbery goo from the carpet after 5+ years.

In the MkIII, the headliner glue seems impervious to my favorite chemical removers. I resorted to wire-wheeling off the big chunks and accepting that it looks crappy for now.
