Default Insurance on your race car

Do any of you have insurance on your race car to cover theft or a specific rider on a policy to cover towing accedents? My regular insurance company has clauses against race cars and coverage is doubtful even if the car is stolen, or damaged while towing.

What's the approximate cost of such insurance? Not that the General Li is that desirable but I'd be interested in such coverage.

My insurance is also with Parrish, it's about $150 a year with replacement of up to 20K. Coverage includes in my garage, trailer, and at the track (except for on track).

So if your car was street legal, would that be covered under that policy as well?

The quote I got from Parish was $225 for two cars one with a 10k value and the other with a 20k value(I was planning for when I have the GP car finished and the ITC car converted to HP). They will require you to take pictures of the car as well as the storage facility it is in and the types of security it has. It is excellent coverage, it will cover you for everything up to the moment you enter the false grid. So if someone is flying around the Paddock in their tow vehicle and they hit your car then it is covered.

With the existing policy I have in my case NOPE. My MR2 was street legal, The second they saw the cage in it they told me it would not be covered.

We put so much time and effort into these cars. I would cry if I lost it in a racing mishap, but to have a yo-yo talking on his cell phone not paying attention to what he is doing cause an accedent while towing I would go postal. Also even though I don't live on the gulf all this weather has made me think...I do live in tornado ally...if a tornado ate my car I would be most unhappy.

My American Family Agent threw in the coverage for my Racecar as a favor for all of the other business she was getting from me and my wife. $64 a year covers the car in the garage, on the trailer and in the paddock against loss due to theft, vandalism and fire. She made the offer to me because she knew that I was racing cars (we were setting up life insurance) really freaked me out that is was available. The coverage is for $6K which should replace my IT7 RX7.

I have had a racecar of some kind for the last 15 years. This is the first time I have ever had insurance. When I enquired in the past my agent sent me to K&K and similar carriers. Usually ended up with quotes in the $200-300 a year range.

So, if you have allot of policies with an agent and they are trying to sell you more maybe they can do you a favor.

Just talked to Parish and got mine insured. Just the coverage I was looking for. Always had a bad feeling leaving my car in the Paddock overnight or on the trailer at a motel. Also, don't have to worry about the Bozo's on I-4 as much. IT.com rocks!!
