Can a 1985 RX-7 Chassis (12a based on vin number which is generally an ITA class racer) be fitted with an ITS engine (13b) and approved to run ITS?
Any issues?
Thanks,

The GSL-SE trim came with a fuel injected 13B and I'm pretty sure it is classified in ITS already. I don't think that you can "create your own combo". The VIN has to match what's in the car, I think.

I agree with Ony. SCCA won't let you run hybrids, no matter how well you do it.
As noted, the GSL-SE is the only ITS-approved 1st-gen RX-7. However, when compared against the current front-running ITS cars (such as its kin, the 2nd-gen RX-7) it really doesn't rate...
I think the 1985 GSL-SE would make a decent ITA car!

It's tough to beat the 2nd generation's big brakes and IRS though.
