Flipping through the most recent GCR and wanted to get some thought as to the following rule:

Page 464, rule (D)(1)(c) - "air cleaner assemblies may be modified, removed or replaced. Air intake hoses, tubes, pipes, resonators, intake mufflers, housings etc., located ahead of the carburetor/throttle body may be removed or substituted. On cars so equipped, the air metering/measuring device must be operational and shall not be modified."

To me, this means we could use an aftermarket intake hose (i.e., high velocity Stainless Steel instead of the standard rubber hose) but it would have to be modify to fit the MAF sensor... am I interpreting this rule wrong or is the gains not worth the trouble since the end of the tube is still restricted by the MAF?
