    Default 2014 LRP NARRC Runoffs

Gridding - For 2014, grid positions for the NARRC/NEDCS races on Saturday afternoon will be determined by the best qualifying time in the Saturday morning qualifying Sprint (not finishing order). The grid for Saturday morning will be set by best times in the Friday afternoon qualifying Sprint and the grid for the Friday afternoon Sprint will be set by the best time in the Friday morning gualifying session.
So on Friday morning, there's the typical qual session which determines the PM qual sprint. Considering that only the Sat PM session is a valid race, it kind of seems that taking Friday off from work isn't all that valuable other than seat time. The only thing that matters is the Sat am Qual time which can be set from the back. If racing in ITA, that just might be the place to do it anyways considering the mix of classes. Is this approach much different than years past.

It has always been that way, Dave: by regulation we cannot "race" on Friday. Friday's events are qualifiers, not races.

Only difference here is that we're gridding and doing race-like starting procedures for the qualifying sessions on Friday.

I knew about Friday being like that, but not about Saturday. I thought on Friday it was between the two best times of AM and PM. Then on Sat it was by finishing AM position for the PM race. Really trying to plan for tire mgt purposes. Not having the season that I hoped for, the seat time will be nice.

Traditionally, both Friday sessions and Saturday AM sessions were timed qualifiers. This way, if someone cannot take time off of work they could still qualify on Saturday for a good grid spot.

But, drivers asked for more "race" sessions, so....and I'm sure this is the best they could do, given the limitations.

Traditionally Saturday was actually only a few hardship sessions and it was a day of racing...

And you make an assumption that the Saturday qual will be dry. If it's wet, you won't be able to get to where you want to be.

There has been no "traditional" to the scheduling of the NARRCOFFS. Started competing in them 25 years ago, have missed a few along the way, but have been to many. Way back, it was Practice Fri. AM, Qualify Fri. PM, race once on Sat. Then it changed to both sessions on Fri. we're Practice/Qualify, race once on Sat. Last year it was Qualify Fri. AM....time set the grid for the Fri. PM "Qualifying Sprint"...position set the grid for the Sat. AM "Qualifying Race". Grid for the big "Feature" was set by best lap time from any of those 3 sessions. I remember because I purposely started at the back all 3 times to stay out of the craziness.

    It's evolving...unless you're a creationist, then it was planned ~8000 years ago.

    Honestly, this is my concern.

Very good point Andy. Duh, didn't even consider that.

"Very good point Andy. Duh, didn't even consider that"

This doesn't appear to be a factor,

"Gridding - For 2014, grid positions for the NARRC/NEDCS races on Saturday afternoon will be determined by the best qualifying time in the Saturday morning qualifying Sprint (not finishing order)."

Grid position is only based on SATURDAY MORNING , it appears that other qualifying times don't count toward Sat PM grid

That just might happen. Car is still on trailer awaiting body shop to happen. Waiting on one part before that can begin. It is spray painted with Krylon though!! New Hoosiers being picked up on Monday.

Hey, a half-step step up from being painted with a Home Depot brush. You're advancing, Dave.

the motorsportsreg is a little screwy ... one 2014 NARRCoffs page pops up at the top of my dashboard
and says I'm already registered, but that registration closed a year ago... but look further down and
HERE is the correct 2014 NARRCoffs page, and almost nobody has signed up so far

    Couple of points:
Sprint Qualifying on Friday started last year (2013) by NER
Friday Sprint (best lap) set grid for Saturday AM race(last year)
NY Region only hosts one race event a year, the NARRCOFF, they do the best they can!

Does anyone have room on their crew list for 2 people for the NARRC Offs?
Please PM me if you do.

Not racing, but would like to come down to watch.

    Thanks

Default Silvercar S2 does not belong in IT race

    .

The Group 8 Race is ITS,ITB,ITR,T4 (a normal grouping) plus SPU

Registered in SPU are 2 entries
    . 17 Boruch III, Joseph A. 2003 Honda S2000 Waterbury, CT
    . 44 ZOZAYA, BERNARDO 2014 SILVER-CAR S2 New York, NY

The Silvercar is a 1000cc motorcycle powered 190hp tubeframe car weighing 979lbs.
On the distributor's website, showing the 44 car on the banner, all the videos of it
show it racing against and beating CSR and DSR cars.

    http://silvercarusa.com/technical-specifications/

This does NOT belong in the same group as Golfs, Rabbits, 325s, RX7s, Miatas ...
I am writing to the registrar to suggest changing SPU to Group 3 (Wings and Things)
If that doesn't work, what is the correct procedure to encourage the stewards to act?

Don't get me wrong, by the specs and videos, I'd love to own one, but with a probable
49 or 50 sec lap time, the ITR leaders will be lapped FOUR times in a 20 lap race, which
will drastically shorten the event for all of us!!!!

Look on the supps for the contact info for Dave Perlman, the chief steward. Send him a note with your concerns.

Abhi, did you get your crew passes? Note that reg closes at 10:30AM each day...
