    Default NJMP Thunderbolt 8/16 - 8/17

I haven't raced there before and was thinking of going down there in 2 weeks for the regional.

    Questions...

Is it is difficult track to learn? I was going to do the Friday test day.

Anybody willing to share video links that I can watch?

What is a competitive time in ITA/

    Any pet friendly hotels nearby?

    Thanks All

When I first raced there, I ran 1:40. By the end of the weekend, I was ~1 sec off the track record, which is at 1:34.4 by James Price. And then I crashed chasing the lead, Ed York in a miata, late apexing with my FWD on turn 3, the back straight away. Different cars, different apexes.

I think the track is easy to learn. I enjoying running there, albeit my car/I do well there.

    Videos from last year:

    Qual Race https://vimeo.com/72557038 (finished 1st)
    Race https://vimeo.com/72736698 (finished 2nd)

Competitive times in ITA would be 1:35's, 1:36 flat, no more.

I like both NJMP tracks quite a bit.

Here's a video from the JRRC last fall: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=my22...JcwcvxLgwBh6kQ

I'll probably go back for it again this year.

Mickey, looks like you had the advantage on top end HP/lb, he had the advantage on torque/lb. you had the better line, but why did you follow him into the dirt?

Thanks Mickey and Jeff for sharing.
I ended up going down to one of their member days and ran 3 twenty minutes sessions. Also got to do a track walk with Aaron Povoledo.

I only got down to the high 1:37s
The right hander past the condos is giving me trouble.

Hopefully I will figure it out on the (very expensive) Friday test day.

    Thanks again

The right-hander after the villas is a throw-away; the important bit is setting up to get on the power ASAP for the straight that follows (and full-throttle all the way to T1).

Thea and I are in Atlantic City that Friday night so I'll be racing there that weekend and sharing one of the villa condos with Craig Swinehart*. So we'll see you there...

    * We have a spare room in the villa with two (double? twin?) beds if anyone is interested in sharing costs...

Tired? Too focused/fixated on his bumper? Probably a little of both.

Regarding the right-hander by the condo's, I brake firm, stand the car on the front two wheels, release, then turn in at the same time and then start powering down again. FWD <> RWD I would imagine.
