    Default Miata Maintenance Checklist

Does anyone have a Miata maintenance checklist they'd be willing to share? Tried to search the threads on the SM site but came up with nothing......

    Thanks

Rear bearings and rear wheel hub, and occasionally the nuckle.
I had the bearings replaced in the off season, but the hubs weren't replaced.

    Not much to it.

    • Check (front) hubs for play every session. I always carry a spare set. Get the blueprinted ones from Mazdaspeed or somebody like Jim Drago at East Street.
    • Sometimes the eccentrics in the suspension will loosen up, but that's not so common since the bolt style changed in '93 and the new bolts are all that are in stock. The correct torque for those bolts is "aaaaaaaarrRRRRGHHGHGH!!!" Ft/lbs. plus a half turn.

    • Clean windshield, add gas.

If you want to take it endurance racing, here's our record:
Race 1: gas, oil, brake pads after 24 hrs.
Race 2: replace 1.6 open diff. new brake rotors after 8hrs (who knows how old the originals were)
Race 3: replace engine (since nobody thought to replace the water pump belt, lost it, and overheated the engine)
race 4: replace 1.6 open diff, replace clutch, rebuild tranny.
Race 5: replace engine installed during race #3. finally get the rest of the team to consider a maintenance plan more stringent than "pull car from barn, change oil, race".
