Default Driver, Crew, and Sponsor Announcements - 2014 Devil in the Dark

Ok everyone... There have been a few different threads about the Devil in the Dark, this year sould be the best yet! Lets start posting up "news releasses" announcing the team & driver line ups... I know I would like to know who/what we are up against and I think we should give a few props to our sponsors that support this "addiction."

Lets keep it to one thread with the final driver announcements and pre-race smack talk.... Also we need some race predictions!

We are thrilled to announce our driver line-up for the 2014 Devil in the Dark Endurance Race. This event will see our seasoned drivers Raymond Blethen, Stephen Blethen, and Tim Dugan partner with Yiannis Tsiounis. Raymond, Stephen and Tim proved to be fast in last year’s event maintaining a pace that help lead the team to a 7th overall finish on the Dunlop Direzza ZII tires. We are confident that Yiannis will also prove to be fast with his extensive background and decorated trophy room. He is a graduate of the Skip Barber formula racing program and has won dozens of races on the regional and national level, including the 2012 Pro-IT Spec Miata championship as well as the 2012 NASA Spec Miata Championship.

RST Performance Racing is once again bringing an irreplaceable crew that is well experienced in what it takes to run a successful endurance race. They are already putting in long hours prepping the car and cannot wait to see how this year’s event will go. Special thanks to the returning pit crew: DTR - Randy Schneiderheinze, James Chafe, Tom Gray, Justin Abbott, Greg Gillette, and Eric Sherwin. Also special thanks goes to all those that are helping behind the scenes with coordination, food, and hospitality. Anyone looking to join us to help or get a glimpse of what SCCA endurance racing is all about should contact Stephen Blethen: [email protected].

Dunlop Tires will return as one of our title sponsors as they take on the challenge of endurance racing. The Dunlop Direzza ZII tires save an estimated $4,000 in tire costs in an long distance endurance race. Other savings include decreased wear and tear on the vehicle not only saving repair costs but also helping the reliability needed to make it to the finish! Interestingly; based on our calculations from last year’s events, we would not have improved our class or overall position had we run on a “faster” “R” compound tires. Anyone looking for more information is encouraged to contact Raymond Blethen: [email protected].

Yushino comes to us with Yiannis as a sponsor to join RST Performance Racing and Dunlop Tires at this years Devil in the Dark Endurance Race. Yushino is the “Words with Friends” of numbers; download it for FREE in the app store. Anyone looking for more information on this exciting game is encouraged to go check out www.yushino.com or stop in and ask Yiannis at the next event!
