    Default opinion on 2.3 bronze gear

    just asking my fellow ford 2.3L racers about their thoughts on using a bronze dist gear.

    Manny--depends on the cam you are using.

    If it is an OEM cam; stay with the OEM gear

    joeg is correct. With the factory cam, you will want to use the factory gear.

    Don't race a 2.3L but have dealt with one enough to comment. I messed up and used the wrong gear on teh wrong cam... once.

    Stock dizzy gear tears up the drive gear in the KA24E's when road raced. NISMO bronze one fixes the issue when installed with a new drive gear... No 2.3 Ford experience here, but I understand the need for a bronze gear.
