Default WMR Dbl Reg @ Grattan 7/27, 7/28

After a couple of delays while we got the paperwork straightened out with HQ, registration is now open for the "Unrestricted" Double Regional at Grattan Raceway on 7/27, 7/28. It'll be our traditional three race format with fast time in the Sunday morning's qualifying race determining starting the position for Sunday afternoon's feature race. We race all classes at WMR and this weekend should be a lot of fun. Prices are the same as last year and we've bribed the weather steward once again. We'll have Que It Up catering our Saturday evening dinner party once again.

Go to http://wmr-scca.motorsportreg.com/ to register for this event.

Looking for video from a SM of lap 15 turn 1 on Sunday. If you've got it you know why I want it. Chris Childs, it might be one of your Miatas.

BTW, found out it's REALLY hard to get out of a car while it's upside down.

    TIA,

I am glad you are ok Marty.

My car...had a interesting weekend. Friday I had to relearn how to drive as the car changed so much and I was still timid from my accident last fall.

Saturday morning my seat mount broke halfway through qualifying. Disassemble, weld, and back together for the race. Race I made it 17 laps before losing 3rd gear.

Sunday I wanted to make sure to get my money's worth and keep my licence requirement so I ran without third gear which at Grattan is a DOG. Now I need to do some fixing on the car.

Took first in class both days if that says how many ITA cars were there.

Yeah, same in ITS. I took first in class sitting on my roof.

Thanks. Just some minor soreness in my ribs from when they tipped the car back upright. I'm rethinking whether I like the wrap-around seat.

I think my transmission broke. After the incident it's very hard to shift and won't go into 3rd gear at all. And when it's in neutral it still drives the wheels.

If it wasn't the transmission it was my imperfect adoption of heel-toe downshifting. I'd been having trouble with braking/downshifting (5-3) at turn 1 all weekend. This time the rears locked up and I went into the gravel trap sideways. The gravel tripped the car and it did a 240* roll then rocked back to 180*. I think I'd still be in the car if they hadn't tipped it back upright.

Edit: Do you know of a racer-friendly body shop in GR? I thought the last place I went was a little pricey. Need a new roof (which I have) welded on and some dents bumped out.

P.S. I'm having a sale on pea-gravel - about 5 yards of it for very cheap.
