I'm sure most of you are aware that the NHMS multi-fold garage doors have pinch points on them. Unfortunately, this weekend Mark Wheaton's father found out the hard way.

The day was very cold and windy, and the Wheatons had a garage on the upwind side. Mark's father exited the garage and absentmindedly reached up from the outside to close their door; instead of grabbing one of the indentations in the face of the door, he put his fingers inside one of those pinch points and pulled down the door. His fingers were caught in this pinch point and his hand was captured as the door descended on its momentum to the ground. Quick thinking of folks around got him loose. Without getting too graphic, he ended up being transported to a local hospital with two literally-flat fingertips. I'm no doc, but he says that it was "fortunate" the tips blew out and he should heal reasonably well, and there's belief he won't lose the use of them.

Please note that there's no door handles on the outside of these garage doors. We (the club) have passed on this concern to track management. In the meantime, let's all please be careful when we close the NHMS doors from the outside...
