    Default Crx

Quick inquiry here:Is there an IT class for a 1989 CRX with a LS/VTEC swap?

    Thanks,

No; Improved Touring does not allow engine swaps. However, Super Touring Light does...but is that a Frankenstein engine? That may not even be compliant for STL; post details on engine.

    GA,
Yes, its a frankenstein engine, b18 bottom from an integra LS with a B16 head. Also checking NASA forums, doesn't look like this engine is legal for any class.

    Thanks,

Yep, you're in a tough spot; not too many sanctioning bodies want to get into policing Frankenstein engines...and what you've built is devilishly close to the ITR engine, which is specifically excluded from STL. I'm pretty sure we could get you approved for STU (it would be worth a shot) but that's a World Challenge-level kind of prep. - GA

    Your options...

    ITE (depending on your region)
    STU
Swap in a B16 and go STL

It would be legal for NASA PT classes.

Thank you for all the replies. I decided to go ahead and build this crx an IT legal car minus the engine. The plan is to use this motor while learning to drive a FWD car( been tracking a low hp miata the last 4 yrs) and then purchase an IT legal engine in the future.
