    Default Transmission Allowances

Idle curiousity... with pretty wide open OE transmission allowances, is it legal in STL (or within the spirit of the rules) to install the necessary components to run a hydraulicly operated transmission/clutch in a car originally designed for a cable operated transmission/clutch? Assuming the modifications to do so "serve no other purpose".

Specific example would be the 88-91 Civic/CRX using the later Integra transmission with a "B Series" Integra/Civic engine.

I would suggest "yes", especially given pedals/master cylinders are free.

Greg will be the guy they ask if it's legal or not, so go with what he says.

I also agree with him.. it's a freaking clutch cable and this ain't Showroom Stock!

While I agree that Greg is the guy on this, and while I agree that it is likely legal, and while I have asked this board for their opinion on rules, someone should mention that rules interpretation found on line are worth what you paid for them.

Yeah, ditto on Dick and Chris. What I offer here is purely an opinion (hmm, where have we read that before -- maybe look down...?) and I am one member of the Super Touring Advisory Committee that makes "advisories" to the CRB. In the end it's the CRB that makes the call.

That said, it is my opinion that if the matter were to come to the STAC for a clarification, would we would recommend to the CRB that it's compliant to the intent of the regs.
