    Default Door guard removal

I have a 99 Integra, and getting ready for a quick paint job. There are plastic guards that run down the doors and then into the quarter panel to the rear tire. These are about 1 or 2 inches high and stick out about a half of an inch.
(not my car, but you can see it in this photo: http://www.classycars.org/Acura/acur...tegraLS.08.jpg )

Question is, can i remove these and fill the mounting holes? (For ITA that is) Main reason being, they're not in great shape, and replacements are expensive.

    thanks for any info,

GCR 9.1.3.D.8.k (p411 in Dec GCR):
Body side moldings, rocker panel moldings and wheel opening trim pieces (not stock flares) may be removed. Resulting holes may be filled.
