Here's most of the details for a test day at Gateway Motorsports Park, FRIDAY August 31st on the road course (not in conjunction with any race). This is mostly for local club racers, but any regular PDX/DE or autocrossers can come too. I know you're thinking, "why Friday", but I don't enough time to explain why other than that's when it is. It is being put on by the track and not SCCA.

First and foremost: Please sign up if at all possible, and please share and arm twist your friends to come out. This could lead to a long term, monthly track day at Gateway which would be great for us racers and for building up local racing. Showing your support early greatly increases our chances of success!

Here's the deal:

- Price: $150 in advance, $200 after 5:00 pm August 27th.

- Expect at least 90 minutes of track time - possibly two hours or
more, if all goes smoothly.

- Register through the GMP ticket office - 618 215 8888 x101.
Registration is "technically" open now but it might take them a day or
two to get sorted so please be patient.

- will have run groups for three prep levels:

1) "full prep race cars with licensed drivers" (like an SCCA test
day but open to ALL legitimate wheel to wheel racers - NASA, Chump,
LeMons, BMW, PCA, Midwest Counsel, etc).

2) "street/sports cars with PDX/DE experienced drivers" (Snell M2005
helmet and closed shoes/long pants/etc).

3) "street/sports cars with experienced autocrossers". (Snell M2005
helmet and closed shoes/long pants/etc).

- Note that last group! We'll be offering a classroom orientation but we know these folks already know car control so it will be limited to "rules of the road"

We are still waiting to hear back from GMP insurance on a few details about cars (i.e. roll bars in convertibles) for now assume PDX rules.

- First car off at 8:00. Cold track and social time around 5:00.
We will have some sort of food/drink/party at the end of the day -
still working on details. Concession open for lunch.

- Open wheel folks - we really want to have a group for you but
unless we get close to ten cars that may not be possible. Please beat
the bushes and sign up early!

- All local car clubs are welcome to send reps and literature, hang
out, recruit. Spectators and novices are welcome and free to attend.
Future events will include track time for novices and this is a good
way to get in the loop.
