I don't normally wear tee shirts, but I have one that I bought at the summit - says 'Real men don't need guardrails!'

Even a nice quiet drive up to the peak should be on everyone's bucket list.

Come join us at SCCA Hillclimbs if you can. It's not quite as wild, but more intimidating than you might think. NE and SE divisions have some of the most historic events in the country, and both divisions do a heck of a great job with them... I'll try to post some in-car from my ITB car when I get home.

I will say though, that dirt stuff is a awful lot of work...

Chris, time to step up... Mt Washington is a short tow and although shorter it still has no guardrails, some dirt sections, and BIG drops! I did it in my ITB car!

Some of your finer mountains and you will see a bunch of ITA cars there as well. Run one of these before you try and tackle the big stuff, Chris.

    NO sound limits

    Road race tires

Not as expensive as you think.

    Yes you got called out.

Why hasent Stephen been to a hillclimb since 2001?????? Is the RX8 too fragile? Called out too

    Thanks Dan!!!

I am reading the rules now actually... figured I wasn't helpless lol

NEHA does have a 96db limit on the books but it says that the event chair has the right to waive it... always does? just not enforced? Our car runs 99-101 typically.

I'm sure I'll spend more towing, but $$ is $$ :/ I'm def gonna look at the schedule though and we'll see...

LOL confirming about me being called out AND calling Stephen out!

shit, my engine's specific output sucks! :/

and a penalty in the classing of the car for over 96db?! ahh, that is street prepared. still interesting...

so... do R6's count as a DOT street tire? for purposes of calculating my class...

would be nice if they said ITA goes into "X" class :/ but then sum bum would complain about my "giant" engine...

looks like Prepared 3 is the class for me... sound right?

now what about doing this with a street car?

Ya I'll say it... the RX8 is jap crap! Nothing like a german car... no leaning on the fenders, they actually will bend Then again the Audi did to (But to be fair that was because it was beaten to death!)

Anyway Mt. Washington is expensive, and I just couldn't justify the cost.

Dan, Are they doing it this year? I haven't received any invites or info yet this year.

    Stephen,
Last traffic I saw from Paul G was they would not be doing it this year, but they had not ruled out, or committed for 2013 yet.
With the family history at Mt Washington I imagine your wife would not sign your permission slip!
I remember when you (or was it Raymond?) put the Audi into the rocks hard. There was zero visibility at that turn!
Then your dad with the….I think it was a Mustang right?
But, having said that… it is a BLAST, and if I get the chance to do it again I would jump on it in a heartbeat.

Aside from the helmet the guy in the video has no safety gear on!
    What the....
Was that a actual event or just someone sneaking up the hill on a video run?

Stephen didn't you stuff the Audi into a rock at Mt. Washington? That would deter me from doing it again.

Nope that was my crazy brother!! He must have been trying to stay up with me I took second in class to a legends car.

Here are some great pics of the rebuild of Raymonds Audi after that!

Now that I am older and have responsibilities (Family) It does make me think twice about doing that event... I prefer walls over free falling
