    Default Miata battery hold down

Putting the finishing touches on the '94 Miata and as I'm making brackets to hold down the battery the stock bracket that is above the battery is in the way. I could probably work around it but cutting it out would simplify things. Legal or not says the IT crowd? TIA

I would say yes. The good book says the battery must be mounted securely therefore, in my interpretation, it is legal to replace the stock mount.

I had to modify my mount as the battery hold down is pretty weak. I had the battery slide over and and shut the car down through a couple left handers until it arced enough metal away.
