    Default STL Noob Rule Questions

    STL rule questions:

Is the weight min., with or without driver?

If removing the sunroof can the OEM (sunroof) roof skin be removed, and a OEM (non-sunroof) roof skin be installed in it's place?

Cars that have a hatch, are cf hatches legal?

    Thanks

    With.

Sunroofs are not specifically mentioned in the STCS. However, given that engine swaps are legal, if any version of your chassis came without a sunroof then it's legal. If no version of your chassis came without sunroof, then I'd suggest it's within the spirit of the rules to allow that; send in a request for clarification to the CRB.

STL rules state, "...may replace the hood and trunk/deck lid with nonmetallic composite parts." I suggest hatches are well within the spirit of that rule, but I can see the confusion. Hell, I am planning on doing a CF hatch on my Integra and hadn't really given it a second thought! How about you submit a request for clarification immediately (the next STAC meeting is tomorrow night) and we get that clarified...?

Thanks Greg! Didn't get a chance to send in a request for clarification but will do before the next meeting. When is the next meeting btw? Have a few things I want to submit before the next meeting.

I am sure to have more noob questions also.

Don't bother, already in process. Watch for the next Fastrack, mid-month...

STAC meetings are first Monday of each month. - GA

    Ok thanks.

Another question, is gear size free (as in aftermarket) or do they have to be OE size?

If they have to be OE can gear size be mixed and matched from different model transmissions?

    STL 9.1.4.3.C.3:
Either the OEM transmission or an alternate transmission must
be used; the alternate transmission must be from the same
manufacturer as the vehicle (e.g., an Acura transmission may be
installed in a Honda car). Alternate transmissions must be used in
their entirety. Retrofitting OEM complete gear sets in an alternate
    transmission case is permitted.
I suggest the rule's intent is to allow swapping of OEM parts/transmissions/transaxles. I don't think it allows you to change gear ratios to something not OEM. I, for example, am using the Type R transaxle and gearset in my GS-R Integra.
