Sad News: Russ Neely

This morning, Russ Neely, competition chair for AROC and SCCA National Tech Inspector/F&C/National Competition Driver- passed away.
Saturday, July 31, began as a joyous occasion, the outdoor wedding of AROC/SCCA members David Small and Susie Perrotta at a marina in Michigan. The celebration, camaraderie and laughter cease as Russ Neely slips and falls from a moving golf cart, severely injuring his head. He was initially attended by skilled personnel (a physician, an emt and a respiratory therapist recently returned from Iraq) while awaiting the ambulance. He was transported to a Level 2 trauma center and admitted to ICU. Wife Peggy, David, Susie and several AROC members kept the vigil, praying and hoping for the best as Russ' family members arrived. Russ, dear friend, best man, Alfa guru, loving son, father, brother quietly slipped away with his family at his side about 3:20 AM today.
