I know the haters will disagree, and the lack of competition versus A & B is a factor, but I may have raced what the title indicates this past weekend. I am in a health battle situation and may be on the shelf as far as racing for a while or maybe for good. So this past weekend I wanted to go race at the first track i ever raced on which was Hallett. Lots of MidDiv and Texas budddies were racing so it was a fun weekend as always. Since my race car build is not yet finished, I started looking around for a fun ride. I had a few things to consider; first trying to find a car I was halfway familiar with, second a car that would mate with my mediocre talent and not land me in a midpack fender banging situation (I can't stand denting a rental), and third be fast! My friend from MSR Cresson had just the ticket. Keith has developed a SM Turbo car and has raced it locally with NASA. It is a cool, fast, fun, concept. He took a spec miata and added a few things; wider wheels/tires, FMII turbo setup, gauges, hood venting mods, and he made a winner. Now Keith has spent ton's of development time getting it right, but to his credit, he has figured out a solid fast and fun racer. (Very reliable too.) The car handles like an SM, but you need to drive it a little different. If you use the "SM way" of early on the throttle your ass end will be in front before you know it. Once you learn to throttle steer it through the turns....OH MY! ITE was lite as usual, but I think the car would probably also fit in SPO. Really a fun car to race at a great IT type track.
