    Default ITA MIata

I am preparing my car for ITA/PTE and am curious if you know of any special safety regulations regarding the parcel shelf and holes into the trunk left by removing the oem seat belt inertia reels.

Seems like I should simply ask the SpecMiata corps, but I thought I'd ask here first.

All holes to the trunk must be closed off/covered. traditional methods are welding/riveting/screwing plates over the holes and/or finishing it with aluminized tape. - GA

You need to fill the holes with metal as there has to be a solid metal bulkhead between the rubber filler neck and the passenger compartment. Foil tape works for the small holes.

Seems that there is a Cottage Industry around the blocking of these holes... It appears I have been today

Miatacage.com makes/sells these pre-cut and pre-drilled for screws or rivets.
    They are called fire plates.
    Real time-savers...
