    Default Del-Sol Spring rates

    Just looking to see if there is any ITS Del- Sols out there and what spring rates they are using

    Based on what most similar chassis A cars are running, I'd say 600-700 front, 900-1100 rear would be a good ball park.

    This ^^^^ should get you into the ballpark. Any idea if you can make the chassis stiff enough to handle those rates or are you just going to turn the chassis into the "spring"?

    Caging the Sol is the hardest part.

    Thanks guys for the info,, Looks like any other Honda/Acura setup.
    FYI. Will be using 750R 550 F 20mm front bar.. 22mm rear bar Koni yellow race re-valved.
    Yes the cage was tuff to build . Height was the worst part.
    You have to gutt roof locks and weld in roof to get enough height

    That'll be a decent jumping off point but definitely too soft, IMO.

    I have one, its an ex Motorolla cup/ grand am car. I'd agree with the spring rates recommended. Odly, I don't know mine, it was a pro car and it seems very good already. The car stiffness seems comparable in stiffness to a CRX and Integra R though I've not measured it. They are neat cars, more stable than a CRX, more tossable than the teg. Rev's to 8200 all day.

    If you are thinking of building one, let me know and once spring comes around, I can do photo's of the cage, Also, my fabricator here in LaCrosse does excellent cage work for a lot less than you would get in bigger cities.

    Ps. The cage rear braces on mine come from about 3/4 of the way up the roll hoop, and they punch through the rear firewall below the window and cross and are tied into the trunk floor. There is also a petty bar gong from the top of the cage to the passenger floor bar mounting.

    Also I saw the comment on the hubs, and at least in my experience they appear plenty stout. Much bigger than CRX, In fact mine have lasted so long, I only replaced them because I broke a wheel stud.

    Update - 2/27 - See marketplace, my Del Sol is for sale. I'm buying a Type R!

    I built a multipurpose Del Sol race car. This car is a compromise. It is pretty much IT legal (install few bits). It has a FIA rated cage (built by me) and is also legal for Targa Newfoundland Rally. It has 500/700 rating with stock front bar & a 19mm rear bar. It handles well and is well suited for Targa. Caging a Del Sol is difficult to do right. I studied it for quite a while before fabrication. IMO, its best to bend 1 complete front hoop and attach it to the rear hoop. Below are some pics.
