Rich Shafer of Cool Shirt

Rich and his products have touched many of our lives and made our racing easier/more comfortable over the years. I am sad to bring you the news that Rich had an accident at Turn 3 of the Crow Mountain Hillclimb on his second run Saturday morning. He did not survive. Butch Kummer was with Rich's family at the hospital. He has sent out a release that is much better worded than what I can post. I hope he'll share it with the IT community on this forum.
According to Tony Blackburn of Cool Shirt, they are running as usual this am. He states that Rich had been planning his retirement and had given them an exit strategy.
One of the consolations in my mind is that he died doing what he loved. Godspeed, Rich.

I've known Rich over 20 years and shared rides with him on multiple occasions in the past. He was a good friend and I'll miss him.
