Modifieds have run at LRP in the past. The rules didn't allow for road racing transmisions and subsequently, there were lots of gearbox failures. I've got a 3 speed, but many (most) have 2 speed tranny's.

Would be cool to drive backwards at LRP. The new turn 5 (left hander, er' right hander) would be interesting with a short track set-up!

I'm pretty sure Modifieds race clockwise every year at WGI. The teams have special chassis' just for that event.

Actually Nelson Ledges was configured to be run in both directions. Pretty wild thinking about that!

Running it backwards would be rediculously dangerous. Cars would literally fly off the top of the uphill with no way to slow down. You would have to brake before the crest and get it right every time. Ugh!

Long ago the powers that be would let DE events run NHMS clockwise. I never got the chance to partake, but it looked like turns 4/3 were tough.

LRP probably doesn't matter, there's no run off room when you run normally!

Runoff?? How much runoff is there when you drive a circle track? They were running about 57's, says a poster on the YouTube postings. And apparently they ended up moving a tire wall to the top of the downhill (uphill) to slow them down a bit...

That is true. My Grandpa raced showroom stock back in the day (late 70's) and they would run it backwards every once in a while. He said it actually was faster running it backwards than clockwise (not much though...maybe .100 or so)
But then it got pretty dangerous so they stopped it after a few races.

How about coming out of 1 full tilt and staring at that bridge. No thanks.

Hey - if the modified guys can do it....I'd give it a try. The uphill becoming a cliff that cars fly over is the only safety concern I can think of.... The crest of the downhill becoming the crest of a long uphill would be a cool turn, very difficult.

Actually modifieds ran twice at the glen backwards years & years ago. It really was boring and very few spectators. They have not been back and most likely will not since there is no good reason (track profit)
