Don't know much about the salt and landing helecopters but a driver had an incident at 200mph and they drove him in an ambulance 120 miles to Salt lake city to the hopital! He died.....seems like a long time before getting hospital help.

Just thinking that ALMS won't even come to LRP(or any other track) without an emergency chopper onsite. Why would the organizers of a speedweek at Bonneville not have a chopper when the nearest hospital is 120-130 miles away? A chopper could be at Hartford hospital from Lime rock in the time it took them to drive the ambulance of the salt!!
Landing a Heli on the salt?????

They must not have felt it was too serious to have been willing to drive all the way to Salt Lake City. They could have driven him to Wendover (close) and then flown him from there. Wendover is right next door to Bonneville on the Nevada state line. It has an airport including a heliport, lots of casinos, etc. It's where everyone stays when visiting Bonneville.
