I struggled with yet unsolved overheating problems yesterday. Forced me to withdraw from today. I am going to head back today to watch the ITA race.

LOL. I showed up just as they were pulling out of impound. Shane spun moving from 2 to 5, then back to 2. Andy lead the entire way. I was in T&S during the SM run. Track record broken several times during the race.

I went up to take a break from the timing belt / water pump / head gasket / radiator / tstat replacements.

    Hi Ed,

I qualified 5th with 1.03.617. At the start, an Teg (I think Jeremy's) passed me before big bend on the inside which took him from 7th to 5th. I caught up only to tail gate him until a few laps later at Big Bend, at which point, he broke harder than expected leaving me the choice to bump him or take evasive manuvers - into the grass I went and back from 6th to 9th. I caught up to 7th (I think) only to have my electrical issues resurface, which really sucked. I lost power through my 11-15th lap. I ended up parking up on the hill... and waiting.

Good job to everyone else! I will post my trails and tribuations on another thread.

I was totally impressed with how Jake Gulick did today. 4th overall, and honestly wasn't losing much ground to the 3rd place car. Nice job bud.

Seemed like once Andy got the lead, he was pretty much on cruise control. Andy, were you having some handling issues? Seemed like you were fighting it a bit going into no name and on the up hill. Great drive and no one was even close. It would be interesting to see what types of times you'd run if pushed by another car behind you. This was totally Andy's race. Getting bored not being pushed enough at LRP?

ITB - Nat won with a yellow Sabb in 2nd. Nat's got his times way down.

Loved watching the SSM race. Darrel LaPoint had a good fight and ended up taking the checker.

    My take...

Very clean... thought defintely close quarters in the pack at the start. I cannot beieve taht no one touched... but I can assure you that the "inside" of Big Bend should not include needing a LOT of curb to "give room."

Props to Flatout for a last minute set-up and some timely advice during the weekend.

Props to Denise is the Escort cutting some 12 second off her time and meeting her race goal!

Props to the registration folks dealing with me and my last minute antics...

I learned a lot and have a huge grin despite my finish position as I learned a lot and am trying to save up to do it again!

    Thanks everyone!

Jake set another IT7 track record. Very nice time.

I got out to a nice lead but didn't feel 'sharp'. I think it was a little me and a little car. as soon as Shane had that spin, I didn't have to push to 10/10's but that is when *I* personally lose focus. The cars brakes were acting wierd and the car developed a little push. Shane put the bit in his teeth and was gaining on me but I had way too much space at that time. I can't believe he fought back to P2.

If Shane had gotten a better start, it would have been a bumper to bumper race probably being decided by traffic in the end. He just has to stay on the track! He had fast lap by half a second.

SSM and SM races were unreal.
Anyone else feel that the abrasiveness of the track sends the tires away pretty quick (Hoosiers)? I almost put Toyo's on for the race given our SM data and temps.

He would have if I had more power, LOL. The old RX-7 can only push a CRX so fast.

The start was fun, some "pinball " action for sure.

Thanks for the props guys! I think I can get it better....some handling refinement needs to happen. And there's always the search fr more power.

Dave thanks for crewing for me. You made a good fix, and provided humor to my guests. BTW post race pump out revealed .6 of a gallon left. Gulp.

What a perfect day. One bonus was meeting John Fitch. Me: "Mr Fitch- I just wanted to tell you that I enjoyed watching your Bonneville DVD". Mr Fitch: "Thankyou. I found it a bit boring, but I'm glad you enjoyed it". Classic. He's a neat guy. I bought his book on his Mercedes years. I hope that helps his situation. P-51 pilot, WWII POW(in Germany), raced for Mercedes 7 years after that(!), helped design Lime Rock, invented highway safety devices that have save hundreds if not thousands of lives, designed his own car, etc etc, etc. Now 92 years old...if you get the chance to meet him, do so, he's a treasure.

Do you mean this start where we saw Andy run walk away and the rest of the P3-P6 went four wide into Big Bend?

If you examine the picture carefully, you see that everyone behind you is communicating using various hand signs to negotiate who is invited to go first into turn one

upload the video on youtube or vimeo and then you should be able to reference the video from the boards.

I had wondered if Andy got a really good start, the start was jumped a bit, or everyone else got a poor start. I figured the first.

Shane bogged so badly, even I was able to push him with my bumper...twice.

I'll look at my video of the start. I did not think anything until you walked away without me.

I have stock rearend gears so that's my excuse.

If I get some time I'll try and post the vid.
