So whats the deal with Ra-1's if you start off with them unshaved. All the ones I have ever run have been used so they were already worn over half way. I know they won't be as fast for the first few races or even till there almost gone.
If you buy them shaved what is the expected life out of them, I would assume at least 6 to 7 double race weekends?

I bought a set of RA1's shaved at 4/32 and I used then for a Time trail event and the Double RR School at Roebling and a track day at Talladega Gran Prix. 5 events and they're just about done. No cords showing but the tread lines are gone on 3 of them. I don't have experience with them at full tread depth.
I would at least shave them to 5 or 6/32nds. You should see 20-30 sessions at this depth.

Speaking from experience, RA1's get faster as the approach the cords unless they have too too many heat cycles/sessions. I bought 6 RA1s in 07-08 and have used them for 4 weekend TT/HPDE events and 1 clubschool/regional. I would guess that they still have another 2-3 good weekends of hard driving left on them.
