Lightbulb ITB 91-99 escort 1.9 SOHC

I`m new here & was looking at the cars listed for SCCA & noticed it was missing the 91-up escort 1.9 SOHC. Is it that it`s too slow or someone just doesn`t run one ???

Most likely the only reason it is not listed in no one has requested it be listed.

I think it would fit well in B.

I think it would fit just fine in ITB also, & having the same type suspension as the GT, would make it a decient handler. Back in 97 , my wife had an 96 coupe with heavier springs & (i think) AGX adj struts (installed by me) with stock aluminum rims & 14in performance tires & that thing would out run any 86-90 EGT or EXP & man did it handle (for what it had)& the engine was completely stock. Being a retired racer (EMRA from years gone by) I would not be able to submit a car proposal to the SCCA , but i know with EMRA it should fall into ST4 with the early GT`s & EXP`s (or maybe ST3 with the golfs & jetta`s). Big problem is it`s 14 HP less than the gti & 45 pounds heavier (at least)

I also would like to know , how does one figure out what the weight would be to submit to the SCCA for the class ??? Do you go by build weight of factory ratings ??? I figure it would be pretty close to the EGT -50to 100lbs

The Improved Touring Ad Hoc Committee (ITAC) would make a recommendation - including a proposed weight - to the board, after reviewing the request to have this one listed. We've got processes in place to figure that out but we need documentation re: stock specs, years within the "generation" and all the specs you see in the ITCS (compression ratio, valve size, all that).

All of that would go to the board as a proposal that the car be listed.

I think it would be a *great* addition to ITB.

Great i`m sure i can find all that out & get back. I have another question on this in the rules

(The engine management computer may be altered or
replaced. A throttle position sensor and its wiring may
be added or replaced. A MAP sensor and its wiring may
be added. Other existing sensors, excluding the stock air
metering device, may be substituted for equivalent units.)

So if i guess right, you can pretty much scrap the stock ECU & wireing & run an aftermarket ECU set up & use a lap top to program it.
