    Default Valve spring compressor

I need a valve spring compressor for a VW 8 valve head. I have a Hastings "C" clamp style one, can I get an adapter for OHC springs? Or should I just buy a cheap new one on ebay?

Mark Coffin has some valve tools for sale on ebay right now. You may want to get hold of him... He has a listing with the link on the prod page.

    Joe,

Here's one of the valve spring compressors I have:

It consists of two towers that mount to the head, the crossbar and the handle that pushes down on the valve spring retainer.

You can use the C style with a short tube to extend the push on the valve retainer. Try a few sockets for the right size, and than make a tube ,witha hole in the side to see through. Use some grease to hold the keepers ona screw driver tip and slide them throught the hole inthe end of the tube, watching through the hole inthe side of the tube.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I think that I can make an adapter kind of like this:

    Joe,

I've got the whole set of valve tools that you can borrow, just cover shipping to you and back. Hit me up via email if you need them.

Thanks for the offer Bill. I made an adapter for my C compressor, popped one off and found out what I needed to know.
