    Default Required Forms for Car classification

    Since several people on this forum are those involved in the decision making on car classifications I was wondering if you could list EXCATLY what you would like to see when we are asking for either a car classification or for a car to be resubmitted through "The Process". It would be great to have these forms available on this website that can then be e-mailed to the appropriate members.

    Technically, you should do a Vehicle Technical Spec's (VTS) form, available on the SCCA web site but frankly there's a lot of stuff on there we DON'T need. The ITAC likes its data so if you can send PDF or other web-enabled versions of documentation (e.g., spec's page out of a manual, Road & Track test, whatever), it's extra helpful. Our biggest challenges tend to be the older stuff.

    We get requests that have to be tabled while we look for data, so by sending it along in the first place, you increase the chance that we can get things done more quickly.

    Is there a compiled list of cars that have been submitted on and either denied or tabled? If so, having that might help keep multiple requests for cars that don't fit or yeild information from outside on a car that needs more data for consideration.

    There are cars I see on the street & wonder if they have been considered, or if they have why they didn't fit.

    Interesting question. There's no official public record of what is under consideration but I CAN tell you that the ITAC doesn't currently have any NEW listings still in the works - other than the V8 ITR cars, that are chugging through the ITAC/CRB process. If you've got something new in mind, go for it. Unless it's a make/model that exceeds the performance envelope of ITR, there's someplace it will "fit," one way or another.

    The tabled questions right now seem mostly to be "please re-examine" items, waiting for bigger questions to get resolved (e.g., another Great Realignment?) and/or oddball/old stuff for which we needed additional data.

    Does a full form have to be filled for an additional model year in a line item? Or can I cheat and say see previous year.

    Also what about imported models, where compression, or gear ratio's changed? Do those get submitted separately or even can those get submitted?

    Please provide some sort of documentation that shows that your proposed additional years were really the same car as one already listed.

    See the very first paragraph of the IT rules. Only US models are allowed in IT.

    Excuse the insomnia on that one.

    What I meant was package options that were brought into the US market at the the manufacture level. For example on the Celica there is an "Action Package" which is a different front, sides, and rear plastic. Generally these packages are parts from different markets.

    Would the same apply for things like a gear ratio change?

    The options have to have been sold in the US market. That they might have been sold in a different market is totally immaterial.

    Ok thanks got the options. Now should I include all factory options that were listed then in the VTS. Or is that something that is not decided at a VTS level, and is up to the owner to prove?

    Since you are asking about gear ratios: that's one of the items that gets published in the ITCS. If you want us to publish some specific ratios, just tell us what we need to know. If you have documentation, share it with us. Don't assume we're experts in your car. Don't overthink this -- just give us info that we can act on, that preferably doesn't send us into a huge research project. Those are the ones that get tabled for a long time while the research happens.
