Default VIN Rule question : "Old car and the New Rule."

Just a quick question to put out there. About the new VIN rule.

This has to do with Roll Cage eligibility...

If I had bought an ITC MKI Rabbit, ,with a cage that was installed in it from before the newer cage steel was required.

And now I wanted to turn this car to an ITB MKI Rabbit , as per the spec line, would

A.) This be considered a new car ??

B.) Therefore the cage would no longer be in spec ??

    Just curious.......

Generally speaking, no. We usually do not re-logbook a car when it changes classes, say from Showroom Stock to Improved Touring. Logbooks generally follow the tub/rollcage combo, so we usually only re-logbook a car when a compete new rollcage is installed. Though, in some case, I've seen/heard of logbook numbers being transferred to a new cage.

You mean in terms of grandfathering rules? As long as you have the original logbook, it's grandfathered in, regardless of class. However, I'm assuming the change in weights with the class move will not affect the minimum rollcage tubing size.
