Self adjusting clutch cable

My car has a self adjusting clutch cable.. I have no idea how it works but I know it can collapse somehow and then adjust itself. How do you work those things? thanks

Get the shop manual, it tells how to compress it., Or you can cut it off and replace it with a MK 2 cable, pretty sure.
Most shops , me included, either back date them or order a new one and use a cutoff wheel on the old one.
