    Carol,

Also be sure to look at the distances from the track the place you stay is. I believe a couple of those are a little ways (~ 30 min).

While in the area, plan on spending a little bit of time at the Watkins Glen State park. It's right in town and an awesome place to visit. Numerous waterfalls, able to walk though the gorge - it's well worth spending even an hour or two while there.

    Carol,

The Inn at the Falls in Montour falls is really nice and very close. Might be a little more $$ but at least it's clean.

Seneca Lodge is a great place to eat and grab a beer, close too. I strongly second the state park advice and I heard the lake tour was well worth it too.

    Have fun

+1 on the Seneca Lodge....it doesn't get much closer than this place. And at only $69/night.....hard to beat. Clean and basic as far as the rooms go.

    I'll be there this weekend.

Seneca is decent... The Cheiftan is good. The lady Judy that runs the place spent years on the road with CHAMPCAR teams working hospitality so ahe takes care of and enjoys having racers there. It is a smaller place up on the road that heads north outta downtown so its right by the lake. Long story short, it is very clean, comfortable and they do have a small breakfast provided. If you call, just tell her that your are with the SCCA and she'll take care of you.

I prefer the falls motel. Never had an issue there.

And don't forget the original track (public roads!). If you stop at the main gate for the park, they can give you a map, and most of the corners are designated by markers (like historic markers). If you haven't done it, it a real trip!
