Revisiting fuel starvation problem

I know this subject is. I'm thinking of trying out one of the tanks from http://discountgastanks.com/search/?...ETTA/index.htm

Was wondering if anyone has tried these tanks and if they had any success with them? I saw over at vwvortex that as long as they part # ends in B that the pick-up tube is metal and there is a metal baffle in the tank. I've heard some good things about the tanks and that they solved the problem on right hand turns, but have not heard from any road racers.

I don't want to go with a cell as IMHO the tank is in the optimum location.

The surge tank is another option, but do I have to get a 2nd pump?

A small (1to 1 1/2 qt) surge tank and facet type lift pump in the spare tire well is the way to go in my opinion.

Still looking for a solution to this problem for my tank as well. I put in an aftermarket tank, but it has no baffles or surge tank area.

I'm using the Golf in-tank pump in addition to the standard in-line VW pump, but still losing fuel pickup at half full!

Solving the problem currently by just running a full tank for every race, as I'm sure the GTI can use the extra weight in the rear.

Maybe I should just "fuggiddaboutit"?

Yes, you'll need an in-tank pump to get fuel to the surge tank. I'm using the golf in-tank pump connected directly to the in-line pump, but it still pumps air at about the half-empty point.

I guess I need to find a surge tank, wasn't aware the Golfs came with these until now.

Guess I've just gotta figure how to call it a "filter" or "fuel regulator".

It will regulate the fuel when I go round corners.
