Count me in. I'll to the registration thing when I'm on my home computer but I think it's a worthy idea.

I'd echo earlier concerns about avgas, as someone who used to be able to buy it for not a lot more than good pump premium. Philosophically, it's nowhere near the exotic blends and I think it should be OK. I don't use it now though so that won't stop me from participating.

    K

EDIT - I got a huge laugh out of the note attached to some of the SM POG "members" commitments at that site: "For any given race, I will if everyone else does but I might not if someone else does not". Way to make a stand, you wusses. That's like people that get tribal tattoos in places they can cover up easily with their work clothes, a practice a friend used to call "a retractable social statement."

I'll get my gas tested this weekend, to make sure that Chicago area emission blends don't kick me out of the SCCA spec - which of course will present a new problem for me. It would suck to have to pay $7 / gal for the same stuff at the track, rather than $5.50 / gal with emissions crap in it.

If it is good, I'm game for POG.

I assume the premix oil for my rotary disqualifies me.

As far as I understand, you rotory racers need to add oil to any fuel that you are using. If you're adding oil to "plain old gas" and you feel that what you're doing falls within the concept of POG, then I invite you to take part. It's really all about the pledge to not use exotic or expensive fuels to gain an advantage (or prevent a disadvantage)

Conversly, if you are mixing exotic oil with regular fuel, regular oil with exotic fuel, or exotic oil with exotic fuel then you are pushing the limits and I would suggest that POG is not for you.

Yup, i mix with everyday pump gas we dont get much from high octane anyway

I certaily like the idea of all people using similar fuel. Im curious how many of the IT guys are using exotic stuff. it sounds like SM is having a fairly serious issue with this.

I got the stickers the other day for the two Audi's (THANK YOU!!!)... but you will have to work on my dad!!!

He did get the car running last year and did 3 races with it... He had ground control suspension that didn't work so well. He went out and got all new suspension and did some other work on the car to get it much closer to the front! He planned on getting to Pocono this weekend but didn't get it done in time.

LOL... would love to hear more (though perhaps directly or a thread in the P-car section)... likewise, if I can help with suspension options/setup, give a shout! Just overhauled the suspension on my teammate's (ITB ) 924, we'll both be down there at the 'Fest in Aug giving you fits!

This is an opinion from the race engine builder that does all my machine work. Low compression engines do not do well on high octane fuel. He says that only do you spend more money but the performance is less. He is a circle track guy and he says that the engines are lazy. I imagine that it slows the burn rate down.
