A easy way to tell if it is DOM or ERW is to contact your area NHRA (Drag) tech, they check the wall thickness with a little sonic type tester. He puts a little jelly on the tube and sets the probe on it. Same way they check it at the Run offs. Have him check the same tube from 3 different sides and average the readings. ERW has anywhere from 5-10 thousandths or even more variance in the wall thickness, I am shooting from the hip on these numbers. You can the exact measurements from your local steel tube supplier. You will get around 2-5 thousandths with DOM. Our local rep charges $35 for the test.
