I read a post where "Mike V" was showing off an aluminum motor mount that he had bead blasted, then painted black...."so nobody will notice". It was pointed out that it is a legal part (update/backdate) and he responded with the above mentioned quote. Reminds me of the VW Vortex dude who bragged about his 'battery in a battery' (sourced a "demo...[empty] case from Autozone)..lighter weight, you know, but it was pointed out to him that his DE or TT class allowed battery moves or mods....that made for some interesting internet backpedaling.

Somehow, when people start talking about "Drawing no attention", I get nervous, LOL.

But it's truly funny when people go WAY out of their way to pull off some sneaky (and often insignificant) cheat and then we find out the weren't bright enough to read the rulebook to find out it's actually legal. Accck!

He has also got system for live engine telemtry, F1 style. Interesting.

Hey, don't get me wrong, having new cars joing the fun is GREAT! I like the idea of a friendly "heads up" chat.

    okay, i'm confused!

in one post, you are talking about ITA winning cars having this mod.

and then in the next post, you are talking about neons having the mod....

so which is it, an ITA winning car or a Neon?

after getting hit by neons in NASA races, i started referring to them as Spec Neonderthals.

and the smelly telemetry comments reminded me of the timeless classic Lucas Smoke Recharge Kit:

You guys are WAY to nice to give him the heads up. He has mods he KNOWS are illegal (and brags about it). That's just a slap in the face to the rest of us. I say fry him at his first SCCA event.

Neons,,,or ANY car, can win ITA, IF you race in the right part of the country, and the tough guy(s) don't show up.....

Heck even my RX-7 has a 1st place ITA trophy under it's belt!

    Ummmm.....No.

And here's some more insight from one of the links above:

Overall the car is in good shape...more surprises and interesting ideas will be coming to this thread as we go along. There will be some interesting changes along the way. We are going to see how competitive we can make a single cam in ITA.

Just to name a few items on the list:
[b]adjustable lateral links on the rear[/b/
adjustable rear sway bar end links using heim joints
    iceman intake
aftermarket computer (I'm using a stock dual cam right now)
    tricks with brakes
and a few surprises along the way.

Remember guys, the eye sees what the mind percieves!

    A few surprises indeed.

    concur..clearly illegal.

it they were legal every e36 bmw out there would have an adjustable lower rear control arm put in to replace the cheesy failure prone stock part....

Haven't seen the car in a while, but there was at least one E36 running those in the SE...

I think Jack M. had a visit with one of the Texas Neon guys and word must have traveled. i would expect things to be right if they run SCCA at TWS in Feb. Not sure of NASA as they are running their own SN class (sort of unoffical) but will be scored in some PT class. That points system still has my head spinning, but I have had fun when a ran NASA events in the past.

If this were legal... I (or anyone that wishes, not that I am implying or seeming to imply that I want to... but it would make for an interesting project) could build a Fiero that would win ITA hands down!

Heck, I just wished that Honda had rear control arms... or fronts for that matter. Bust the guy at impound after the race... $50 well spent!
