On a 1980 it7 car with a trashed front bumper can a newer style bumper be used in the repair?
my guess is no, but I have a bumper from a 1985 that is a perfect fit. Does not look the same though.
Obviously this is not an advantage for performance, just easier to find the parts. For that matter what about the fenders and quarters? I believe it is ok use a 12a from a later year even though they are not identical.

Sure that is a perfectly legal update backdate at the 79-85 are all on the same spec line. My 79 has the newer front end. I checked the weight of the parts and there was little advantage but I have a lot more later fenders in stock.
