OK the season for many is over, and in some parts its just starting but... lets do some dreaming...

If you had $10,000 sitting in the bank to buy and build any car for SCCA racing and it was going to be the car you raced for the next 5 years... What would you build? Why?

My Current answer, but cary on with your own ideas...

I personally think I would want an Endurance Car and I am thinking/debating over Spec Miata (Competition), Under preped ITS Car (Overall Win), or an 80's Audi Coupe with Turbo conversion and possible AWD conversion in ITE (overall Win)...

ITR V6 Mustang . initial buy in is about 3K for a running car currently. There are a few places making performance stuff for the V6. Suspension, diff and final drives are cheap.

I would go with the Spec Miata and run endurance and sprint races...hell you can even run the nationals with it.

I would trade both my VW ITB and my VW ITC for a GOOD spec Miata after October...

For $10K...? Something to vie for overall enduro wins? Really?

Realistically... a all out ITA Civic. ONly reason I could do that for $10k is because I already have most of the parts.

So when is someone going to give me my $10k so I can try?

We'll 10K wouldn't scratch the surface for a competitive BMW so I guess I'd be a spectator with 10 K in the bank. I'd be richer (and smarter) too..........Just a hell of a lot more boring!!!

$10K?? put a few bucks into your current car and the rest in the bank.

There is no doubt a Miata is a great choice, but for angood built car, the pickens are slim right now. Wait till after the run-offs.

pickens are not slim at all. there's probably 4 or 5 cars out there right now between 9-13k that i wouldn't hesitate for a second to buy.

Spec Miata... It will be the class that is still around in 5-10 years.

At the rate they are getting used up, you think there will be any first-generation Miati left in 10 years?

Sort of like we were never going to run out of '60's vintage VW Bugs, when people were cutting them up for Bajas, kit cars, BBQ cookers, flower planters, etc...
